ABB is investing more than $30 million
in a new transformer assembly plant in Sweden.
ABB invests USD 30 million in a new transformer assembly plant
The new plant, which is being built in the complex in Ludvika, will increase production and expand the capacity and range
of its high-pressure dry bushings.
These products are an important part of
electrical networks.
ABB said the high-voltage casing market has been growing
due to increasing global demand for electricity and an increasing number of transmission networks that carry renewable energy.
The casing is hollow and tapered and mostly made of ceramic, allowing electrical conductors to safely pass through partitions, such as walls or tanks, and insulating
the conductor and its electric field.
While they typically use oil as insulation, the dry bushings produced at the new plant will be replaced with epoxy resin, which ABB claims will be safer and more environmentally friendly
