Enel Green Power, the Brazilian renewable energy subsidiary of Enel Group, announced that it will begin construction of a 475MW PV project
in the northeastern state of Piauí, Brazil.

The PV installation is expected to be operational in 2020, making it the largest PV installation
currently under construction in South America.
Enel Group will invest approximately USD 390 million in project development
    .

"The construction of this photovoltaic power plant began to strengthen our leadership in the renewable energy sector in Brazil and once again confirmed the importance we attach to
the development of solar energy in the country," said the head of Enel Green Power.
São Gonçalo will further contribute to the diversification and resilience of the country's energy mix, supporting a virtuous economic cycle
through the long-term supply of sustainable energy.

When completed, the project will generate more than 1,200 GWh of electricity per year while reducing emissions of more than 600,000 tons of carbon dioxide
    into the atmosphere.

Of the 475MW of generating capacity, the 388MW power plant was awarded a public tender for A-4 by Brazil's Enel Group in December 2017 and backed
by 20-year power supply contracts from several distribution companies.
The remaining 87MW is expected to provide energy
    for the free market.
