The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has announced a loan of $280 million to Ecuador to change, diversify and improve its energy mix and increase the use of and access
to renewable energy in Ecuador.
More specifically, the money will be used to implement various policy reforms to help the country meet its climate change goals and consolidate its fiscal and external accounts

The loan will also support improving the efficiency, modernization, innovation and sustainability of the local power supply chain, as well as energy trade
with neighbouring countries.
Ecuador's fiscal revenues will fall
significantly due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, the bank said.
