According to foreign media reports, the prequalification stage of the Indonesian government's Palapa Ring II fiber optic cable project bidding has ended on July 31, and 27 telecom and information technology companies have registered to participate in the bidding, and the fiber optic cable project is worth about 246.
74 million US dollars.
According to Indonesia's Ministry of Information and Communications, 27 companies have registered to bid, including Telecom Indonesia, Satellite Telecom, XLAxiata, Indonesian mobile phone operator XLAxiata, Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Indonesia, and Indonesian Computer Network Corporation
.
The tender date for the project will be announced
shortly.
The PalapaRing II broadband infrastructure project is expected to be completed
in 2018.
The project will include construction, operation and maintenance and will be implemented
in two parts.
The first part will take place
in 11 towns in western Indonesia.
The bidder will deploy 1,823 kilometers of fiber-optic cable at an estimated cost of $56.
63 million.
The second part of the project will cover 40 towns
in eastern Indonesia.
The winning bidder will deploy 6,572 kilometers of fiber-optic cable at an estimated cost of $181.
