The 16.
6MW "twin-head" designed by Germany's Nezzy2 has been tested and validated in northern Germany for more than two years
.
Mingyang Intelligent is Nezzy2's technical partner and licensee
in China.
Zhang Qiying, president and chief technology officer of Mingyang Intelligence, said that the "dual-head" model has completed the detailed engineering design of the full-scale prototype and will use two medium-speed three-blade MySE8.
3-180 offshore wind turbines with impeller diameters of up to 180 meters, operating
in downwind mode.
The first prototype will be installed
at a 40-meter water depth test site along the southern coast of China.
It is understood that Mingyang Intelligent must also manufacture two different sets of blades, because Nezzy2 adopts a specific anti-rotor working principle: one set is clockwise rotating rotor, and the other set is counterclockwise rotor.
Nezzy2 is designed with two separate towers arranged in a V-shape, with shared bases merging into a short-tubular steel tower mounted on a concrete foundation
.
"We firmly believe that Nezzy2 is attractive not only to our developers and operators, but also to the supplier market
.
" Klaus Ulrich Drechse, manager of the wind and offshore technology team at German wind developer EnBW, said
.
EnBW is another Nezzy2 partner and has acquired exclusive rights
in Taiwan, the United States and Europe.
