China National Offshore Oil Corporation announced on September 30 that China’s Bohai Sea has rediscovered the Kenli 10-2 oil field.
Kenli 10-2 Oilfield is located in the southern waters of the Bohai Sea, about 245 kilometers away from Tianjin City, with an average water depth of about 15.
Xu Changgui, general manager of CNOOC Exploration Department, said that the successful discovery of Kenli 10-2 oilfield broke the situation that the shallow layer of Bohai Oilfield depression has never been discovered in billion-ton lithologic oil fields, and demonstrated the exploration of Bohai lithologic reservoirs.
Following the discovery of the Kenli 600--100 million-ton oil field in early 2020, CNOOC explorers learned from successful experience and quickly carried out an evaluation of the Kenli 10-2 structure on the south side of the Kenli 6-1 oil field
CNOOC Chairman Wang Dongjin said that the discovery of the Kenli 10-2 oilfield is another important achievement of CNOOC's continued efforts to increase domestic oil and gas exploration and development, laying the foundation for the reserves of the Bohai Oilfield to produce 40 million tons
