On February 16 , 2022 , Xueping Zhou's team published a research paper entitled "An Evolutionarily Conserved C4HC3-type E3 Ligase Regulates Plant Broad-Spectrum Resistance Against Pathogens" in "The Plant Cell" , which revealed an evolutionarily conserved immune regulation The module and systematically analyzed the molecular mechanism of broad-spectrum disease resistance mediated by it .
Rice is the main food source for more than half of the world's population
Based on transcriptome sequencing, yeast two-hybrid library and proteomic data analysis, a novel C4HC3 type E3 ubiquitin ligase MEL was screened to regulate rice streak virus infection
Through biochemical and genetic experiments, this study found that MEL generates an intermolecular disulfide bond through the cysteine of the N-terminal SWIM domain to form a dimer, and then recognizes the substrate SHMT1 through the C - terminal YφNL motif , thereby regulating the ubiquitination of SHMT1 .
In recent years, the rice virus research team led by Professor Zhou Xueping and Wu Jianxiang has achieved a series of high-level research results in the interaction between rice virus and plants, and the interaction between rice virus and virus vector insects.
Postdoctoral fellow Fu Shuai and doctoral student Wang Kun are the first authors of the paper, and Professor Zhou Xueping is the corresponding author
