The mammary gland is a dendritic epithelial duct tissue composed of two layers of basal cells and luminal cells, and its development mainly occurs after birth
This study constructed a Procr-flox mouse model and found that conditional knockout of Procr in mammary stem cells resulted in mammary gland developmental arrest, disrupted homeostasis maintenance, and mammary stem cells lost their ability to reconstitute organs after transplantation
The research was done in collaboration with Zeng Yi's research group and Chen Jianfeng's research group at the Center of Excellence for Molecular Cells
