Although there have been numerous studies of health-related quality of life (QOL) in patients with bladder cancer, most cross-sectional studies and failure to adjust for confounding variables may not be suitable for assessing the long-term effects
The single-center retrospective study randomly enrolled 578 patients with MIBC between 2013 and 2017, and the researchers assessed the long-term quality of life of patients using the WHO Quality of
In total, the investigators collected repeated measurements of 397 WHOQOL-BREF questionnaires from 109 MIBC patients, including 42 patients

After the application of nuclear smoothing, stage III-IV patients who received RC consistently showed higher scores on the "sleep and rest" item for more than 5 years postoperatively compared with patients with bladder retention, but stage II patients who received RC did not show the same trend

Conclusions of the study
RC may be beneficial for patients with stage III-IV MIBC to get better sleep and rest, but because the study still has certain limitations, urological surgeons should treat the findings
of this study with caution in clinical practice.
