Previous studies have shown that endovascular treatment can reduce death and disability in patients with acute ischemic stroke.
However, the readmission rate and predictive factors after endovascular treatment remain unclear.
In order to determine the readmission rate and related factors within 30 days after endovascular treatment of patients with ischemic stroke, Dr.
Saqib’s team conducted a study on readmission of patients with acute ischemic stroke after endovascular treatment.
The study The results will be announced at the 2021 American Academy of Neurology (AAN) annual meeting.
Author of this article: Yimaitong AAN report group Yimaitong compiled and compiled, please do not reprint without authorization.
Research Introduction The researchers used national readmission data (NRD) from 2010 to 2017, using the codes ICD-9 and ICD-10 to represent the endovascular treatment of patients with acute ischemic stroke.
The researchers used a hierarchical logistic regression model to analyze factors related to 30-day readmission.
Research results: ➤ Of the 17,562 patients with acute ischemic stroke who recovered to discharge after endovascular treatment, 2,334 (13.
29%) were re-admitted to the hospital within 30 days.
Age ≥ 65 years (OR: 1.
23, 95% CI: 1.
09-1.
39), chronic kidney disease (OR: 1.
28, 95% CI: 1.
12-1.
47), congestive heart failure (OR: 1.
25, 95% CI: 1.
13- 1.
39) is a risk factor for the patient's readmission within 30 days.
Research conclusions In this large-scale nationally representative study, about 1 in 10 patients with acute ischemic stroke who received endovascular treatment were re-admitted to the hospital within 30 days after discharge.
Medical comorbidities and postoperative intracranial hemorrhage are all related to readmission within 30 days.
