The prevalence of Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection in natural populations has exceeded 50% worldwide, with an infection rate of about 30% in developed countries and as high as 80% in developing countries [1].
From asymptomatic chronic active gastritis, dyspepsia (about 10%), peptic ulcer (10%~15%) to gastric malignancy (about 1%) [2-3].
Hp affects the quality of life of
patients to varying degrees.
What are the indications for Helicobacter pylori eradication? A table to understand!

Table 1 Hp eradication indications in Hp eradication in patients with Helicobacter pylori (Hp)-positive Benefits:
- Eradication of Hp can promote the healing of peptic ulcer and reduce the incidence of ulcer complications, prevent ulcer recurrence, and root eradication Hp can achieve remission
of about 80% of early gastric MALT lymphoma.
- Eradication of Hp for gastric cancer in individuals at high risk (family history of gastric cancer, after endoscopic resection of early gastric cancer, gastric mucosal atrophy and/or intestinal metaplasia, etc.
) has a higher benefit in eradicating Hp for preventing gastric cancer than in low-risk individuals
.
- As an infectious disease, it seems that all Hp-positive people need to be treated
.
- Indications for Hp eradication still need to be followed at this stage (Table 1) in order to proactively test and treat
Hp in individuals who benefit greatly.
