Vietnam's seafood exports in August up 80% year-on-year

According to data from the Vietnam Association of Aquatic Exporters and Producers (VASEP), Vietnam's seafood exports in August this year were US$405 million, an increase of 80% year-on-year, and the cumulative export value in the first eight months was US$2.
8 billion, a year-on-year increase of 33%.

Vietnam's seafood exports mainly include: tuna (26%); squid, octopus (17%); crabs and other crustaceans (5%); Bivalve molluscs (4%), other marine fish (48%), and other molluscs
.

In the first eight months of 2022, tuna exports grew the fastest, reaching 55% at $730 million, while crustaceans and cephalopods increased by 37% and 36%,
respectively.
Exports of bivalve molluscs increased by 13%, exports of other marine fish by 23%, while exports of other molluscs decreased by 20%.

The processing and export of wild seafood is concentrated in Ho Chi Minh City, Khanh Hoa Province, Ba Ri-Vung Tau Province, Long An Province and Kin Giang Province

Due to the increase in fishing costs and the impact of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the production of raw materials has decreased, and enterprises are still facing supply shortages
