    (NDO) The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam has just issued a decision to extend the deadline for the anti-circumvention investigation (case number AC02.
    AD13-AS01) on sucrose products .
     
    According to Vietnam News Agency, previously, on September 21, 2021, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Resolution No.
    2171, in response to the application submitted by Vietnamese industry organizations and representatives of relevant industries in Vietnam, for products originating in Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, and Myanmar.
    Some sucrose products have initiated anti-circumvention investigations

    According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, on September 21, 2020, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam launched an anti-dumping and countervailing investigation on cane sugar products originating in Thailand to examine whether the involved products originating in Thailand have passed through Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia and Myanmar are re-exported to Vietnam to avoid anti-dumping and countervailing duties

    On February 9, 2021, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam issued Resolution No.
    477/Q?-BCT, making an affirmative preliminary ruling on anti-dumping and anti-subsidy in the case
    .
     
    On June 15, 2021, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam issued Resolution No.
    1578/Q?-BCT, making final anti-dumping and anti-subsidy rulings on Thai sucrose products, and decided to impose a total of 47.
    64% of anti-dumping and anti-subsidy duties on Thai products involved in the case.
    Among them, the anti-dumping duty is 42.
    99%, the countervailing duty is 4.
    65%, and the validity period is 5 years.

      Data from the customs report shows that between October 2020 and June 2021, imports of cane sugar products from the above five countries to Vietnam compared with the previous nine months after Vietnam launched anti-dumping and countervailing investigations on cane sugar products from Thailand.
    A sharp increase in imports increased from 107,600 tons to 527,200 tons
    .
    Meanwhile, sugar imports from Thailand fell from 955,500 tonnes to 595,000 tonnes (a drop of nearly 38%)
    .

     
      When some ASEAN countries (except Thailand) showed signs of a sharp increase in sugar imports, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam has actively supported the Vietnam Sugar Association and the domestic sugar industry to collect information and data, and requested an investigation into sugar products evading trade remedies

      According to some information and evidence provided by relevant domestic industries, the above-mentioned five countries have signs of evading trade remedy measures
