Vietnam's "Commercial News" reported on January 10 that despite the severe impact of the epidemic , due to the huge advantage of preferential tariffs, Vietnam 's fruit and vegetable exports to the European Union (EU) in 2021 will still achieve positive growth results .
The Import and Export Bureau of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam predicts that thanks to EVFTA, Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable exports to the EU will increase by about 15% in 2022 .

Before the EVFTA came into effect, Vietnam’s fruits and vegetables exported to the EU market enjoyed a preferential tax rate of GSP, but it was still at a relatively high tax rate of 10-20%
    .
From August 1, 2020, after the EVFTA came into effect, the EU reduced tariffs on about 94% of the 547 categories of fresh and processed fruits and vegetables to 0%, including many fruit and vegetable products with competitive advantages in Vietnam
    .
This is a huge competitive advantage over agricultural products from other Asian countries, especially Thailand and China
    .

According to statistics from the General Administration of Vietnam Customs, in the first 11 months of 2021, Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable exports to the EU reached US$172.
    64 million, a year-on-year increase of 7.
    6%, accounting for 5.
3% of Vietnam’s total fruit and vegetable exports, higher than 4.
6% in the first 11 months of 2020.

In the first 11 months of 2021, Vietnamese fruits and vegetables will be exported to 25 EU member states, with the main export markets being the Netherlands, France, Germany, Italy and Belgium
    .
Among them, except for some key markets such as the Netherlands, Italy, Spain and other key markets, exports to most of the other markets have achieved considerable growth
    .
It can be seen that the transformation of Vietnam's fruit and vegetable industry has been quite successful, and exports to many EU member states have increased significantly
