Vietnam's People's Daily reported on December 19 that 20 years ago, Vietnam's aquatic exports in 2002 were the first time.
Exceeded $1 billion, reaching an impressive milestone
    .
In 2022, we will continue to take a new step, and the export value of aquatic products will reach 10 billion US dollars
    .
Exports of some of its staple products also reached important milestones, with shrimp exports exceeding US$4 billion for the first time and tuna exports reaching US$1 billion
for the first time by the end of November 2022.

This remarkable achievement is attributed to the continued strong growth
in the breadth and depth of the fishery.
From extensive and backward aquaculture and processing, Vietnam's fishery has gradually emerged to become one of the global aquatic product breeding and deep processing centers, and has become an important supplier
    in the market.
As of 2022, the aquatic products industry accounted for 3%
    of Vietnam's total merchandise exports.
The fisheries sector contributes nearly 12 per cent of the value compared to the total exports of the
    domestic economic sector.
On the map of world aquatic exports, Vietnam is the third largest exporter, accounting for more than 7% of the global market share, second only to China and Norway
    .

Since the beginning of the year, Vietnam's aquatic products exports have faced many challenges, such as the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Russia-Ukraine conflict, domestic and world inflation, sharp rise in production and operation costs, exchange rate fluctuations, etc.
, especially the "yellow card" warning of the European Union (EU) for Vietnam's fishing industry has not yet been lifted
    .

Vietnam's seafood industry has set a target
of 14 billion US dollars in exports by 2030.
Of course, in the face of increasingly severe market challenges, in order to achieve this goal, Vietnam's aquatic products industry needs to continue to adhere to the roadmap of deep processing, use traceable raw materials, take advantage of the advantages brought by trade agreements, and flexibly strengthen trade to promote potential markets
