Brazil has raised its quota for wheat outside the Southern Communist City, which has zero-tariff access to the Brazilian market, to at least 750,000 tons a year from December 1, Uruguay's State Daily reported on January 13th, a move that has sparked discontent in Argentina.
' ambassador to Brazil, SCIOLI, tweeted his opposition to brazil's move, saying that zero-tariff treatment should be a special treatment exclusive to SADC members, saying the measure could have a significant impact on Argentine wheat exports to Brazil.
(wheat is currently one of the three major exports to Pakistan, accounting for about 15% of its exports to Pakistan), the Brazilian government's tax cut will allow out-of-area wheat to enter the Brazilian market free of 10.5% of the common tariff, the United States, Canada and other wheat export countries, but will compress the Argentine wheat market share in Pakistan.
, on the other hand, pakistan is also dissatisfied with the Argentine government's restrictions on imports, including from Brazil, to limit the loss of foreign exchange.
