Also has a "winning rate" against cancer! Recently, a team of international researchers led by Professor Sun Ying of Sun Ying Center for Oncology Prevention and Control of Sun Yat-sen University made important progress in molecular indicators of dynamic prognosis risk of nasopharyngeal cancer. The concept of
winning rate was originally widely used in U.S. political election prediction and major sports event predictions, it is based on the dynamic historical performance of athletes, real-time updates to calculate the athletes in the event to win the probability. In recent years, this statistical concept has been gradually applied to the field of cancer therapy.
China has the highest incidence of nasopharyngeal cancer in the world, with nearly half of the world's nasopharyngeal cancer occurring in China, especially in southern China, according to the World Health Organization. Because the incidence of nasopharyngeal cancer is hidden, more than 70% of patients in the clinic is already a local region late, the treatment effect is poor, five-year survival rate of less than 80%. How to improve the "victory rate" of cancer in this part of the patients has been the focus of scholars around the world.
recently, a team of international researchers led by Professor Sun Ying of Sun Ying Center for Oncology Prevention and Control of Sun Yat-sen University made important progress in the molecular indicators of dynamic prognosis risk of nasopharyngeal cancer, and for the first time in the world, four EBV DNA reaction subtypes were proposed by mapping the dynamic characteristics of nasopharyngeal cancer plasma EBV DNA during the entire induced chemotherapy and the same period of chemotherapy: early reactive, medium-reactive, late-reactive and therapeutic resistance.
, Sun Ying team used the above-mentioned type to integrate the dynamic change of plasma EBV DNA throughout the treatment of nasopharyngeal cancer, revealing the biological characteristics of the tumor, which can be used to assess the sensitivity of patients to treatment in real time, providing an important basis for the dynamic risk assessment of the disease and guiding clinicians to make treatment decisions.
research published online in the internationally renowned journal Nature Communications (latest IF 11.9). Professor Sun Ying and Professor Melvin Chua of Singapore are the communication authors of this paper, and Dr. Lu Jiawei, Dr. Chen Yupei, Dr. Zhou Guanqun and Yu Zhenyu are the co-first authors.
