The "Prohibited List of Online Sales of Drugs (First Edition)" issued by the State Food and Drug Administration came into force
on December 1, 2022.
These include vaccines, blood products, narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, toxic drugs for medical use, radiopharmaceuticals, pharmaceutical precursor chemicals; Drugs that are clearly prohibited from being sold by the policies and regulations of medical institutions and traditional Chinese medicine formula granules; and other drugs
that are prohibited from being sold online.

"The common point of the announced prohibition of online drug sales is high risk, if not used under the guidance of a doctor, there will be more serious adverse reactions to medication, patients use alone are more risky, and some may be life-threatening

In the list, other drugs prohibited from online retail include injections (except for hypoglycemic drugs); ephedrine-containing compound preparations (excluding ephedra-containing proprietary Chinese medicines), oral compound preparations containing narcotic drugs, tramadol-containing oral compound preparations, and dextromethorphan oral single preparations; anabolics and peptide hormones listed in the Stimulant List (except insulin); Digoxin, disopyramide, quinidine, etc
.

In this regard, Zhang Yatong explained, "At present, many hospital outpatient clinics have cancelled injections, which are basically used by inpatients; Digoxin and other high-risk cardiovascular drugs; Dabigatran etexilate, warfarin, ticagrelor and others belong to antithrombotic drugs; Primidone is an antiepileptic drug, and lithium carbonate is an antipsychotic drug; Isoflurane, sevoflurane, etc.
