According to the relevant decisions and arrangements of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, in order to fully grasp the situation of soil resources in China, the State Council has decided to carry out the third national soil census from 2022

The object and content of the census

The objects of the census are the soil of agricultural land such as cultivated land, garden land, forest land, grassland and some unused land

The contents of the census include soil properties, types, site conditions, and utilization conditions

From 2023 to 2024, organize and carry out multi-level technical training and guidance, complete field surveys and sampling and in-house testing and testing, and develop soil census databases and sample banks to form phased results

In the first half of 2025, the census results will be sorted and data reviewed, and the basic data of the third national soil census will be aggregated; in the second half of the year, the acceptance, aggregation and summary of census results will be completed, a soil census database and sample library will be built, and a national arable land quality report will be formed.
