On March 22 , 2022 , the team of Professor Xia Ningshao of our school published a research paper titled "Structures of pseudorabies virus capsids" in "Nature Communications", a sub - journal of " Nature " .
PRV , also known as porcine herpesvirus type I virus, belongs to the alphaherpesvirus family
PRV is a herpes virus with complex structure and life history.
In addition, this study elucidated for the first time the capsid-associated cortex protein complex CATC on C-capsid and the in situ structure of the genome entry and exit portal protein ( portal ), and found that the overall structure of the PRV portal protein is highly similar to the alpha - herpesvirus HSV-1 , portal and other related proteins interact in a significantly different manner from gamma - herpesviruses .
Postdoctoral fellow Wang Guosong, master student Zha Zhenghui, doctoral student Huang Pengfei, and doctoral student Sun Hui are the co-first authors of the paper; Professor Xia Ningshao, Professor Li Shaowei, Associate Professor Chen Yixin, and senior engineer Zheng Qingbing are the co-first authors of the paper.
