On March 22, 2022, Lancet Neurology ("The Lancet Neurology"), a sub-journal of Lancet, published a specially invited review article Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis: new era, new challenges ( Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis: New Era, New Challenges)

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is one of the first neurodegenerative diseases to be included in the list of rare diseases in China.

Professor Fan Dongsheng's team has been engaged in basic and clinical research on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis for a long time, and has done a lot of original work in many fields such as pathogenesis, electrophysiological diagnostic methods, natural history of the disease, and clinical trials, and the research results have reached the international advanced level.
