    Recently, the bee product quality and risk assessment team of the Bee Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the feed quality and safety testing and evaluation innovation team of the Institute of Quality Standards completed a series of monitoring studies on representative persistent organic pollutants in bees and bee products, and the research results were published in Environmental pollution

    In view of the possible pollutants contained in bee products, the research group collected samples of bees and bee products from different regions in China in 2021-2022, and screened the persistent organic pollutants chlorinated paraffins (CPs) and polychlorinated naphthalenes (PCNs
    ).
    。 The results showed that the content of CPs and PCNs in beeswax was the highest, and the main congeners detected were C10–11Cl6–7, C14Cl6–7, dichloro, and trichloride.
    CPs and PCNs in bee products have regional differences, but the main pollution sources are fuel combustion, exhaust emissions, metallurgical production, etc.
    In addition, according to the dietary guidelines of Chinese residents, the risk of exposure to CPs and PCNs produced by normal daily consumption of honey and bee pollen is very low, and it can be eaten
    with confidence.
     
    The production chain of bee products is long, covering bee colony production, bee farmer operations, food processing and other links, bees and bee products are very good environmental indicator organisms, in the future in the selection of bee colony production environment and product quality assessment can play an active role in ensuring the green source production
    of bee products.
