Yang Huaiyu, a professor at the School of Life Sciences of East China Normal University, and Jiang Rutian, a researcher at Huaxi Hospital of Sichuan University, reported on the first TASK-3 potassium ion channel selective excited agent CHET3, based on the small molecule system Evaluating the potential of the TASK-3 channel as a new target, it was found that selective agitation TASK-3 channel can reduce the excitability of injury-causing sensory neurons, thereby suppressing a variety of pain and providing new ideas for the development of new analgesic drugs for non-opioids. The research results were published recently in Science-Translational Medicine.
the small molecules studied in this study played an analgesical effect through the TASK-3 channel of the outer system, thus having an advantage in overcoming central side effects such as addiction. At the same time, the work also revealed that the TASK-3 channel is a new target with new mechanism characteristics, so the drugs targeted at the channel have a biological basis for producing new efficacy. Yang said the team also assessed the potential toxic side effects of the pilot compound CHET3.
