The painting process of steel structure usually includes base surface treatment, primer painting, top paint painting, inspection and acceptance

Therefore, the following points should be paid attention to during the coating construction of steel structures

(1) Before applying paint, appropriate methods should be taken to clean up the rust, weld coating, welding spatter, oil stain, dust and other debris on the parts to be painted

(2) The surface treatment should be carried out in strict accordance with the rust removal method specified in the design after the steel structure is made and installed after the acceptance, and should reach the specified rust removal level

(3) After the base surface has been cleaned up to the requirements, the first primer should be applied within 4-6 hours.

(4) Acrylic, polyurethane coatings or chlorinated rubber, polysiloxane and other coatings are often used as topcoats during painting, and the relative humidity during construction should not be greater than 80%, and the temperature of the steel surface must be higher than the air dew point temperature Above 3℃ to ensure that there is no condensation on the surface of steel components

(5) When painting, it should be carried out in the order of top-down, left-to-right, inside-out, difficult-to-easy, crisscross order, and the paint film on the surface of steel structural members should be uniform, dense, smooth and even

(6) Coating color difference method can be used during construction, such as the first coating of dark gray or zinc gray, the second coating of light gray, the third coating of gray and white, and the last coating of the design requirements of milky white, etc.

(7) During the coating construction, if a slow-drying paint is used, it should be carried out in the three processes of coating, smoothing and finishing; if a faster-drying paint is used, it should not be painted repeatedly, and the paint must be removed in a certain order.

(8) After the steel structure is installed, the surface of the steel component should be treated with emery cloth, electric wire brush, air compressor, etc.
