The second Qinghai-Tibet scientific expedition found common very small population species in Gaoligong Mountain |
Gaoligong Mountain is the first ecological barrier for the southwest monsoon to enter China, and it is also an important part of the "China-Myanmar Ecological Barrier" in the strategic pattern of China's South Asian ecological security
.
In order to actively promote the construction of the Gaoligong Mountain National Security Barrier System, from July 12th to 17th, Sun Hang, director of the Kunming Institute of Botany , Chinese Academy of Sciences, Li Rong, team leader of "Plateau Plant Diversity Conservation and Sustainable Utilization", "Plant Diversity Change Survey" "Team leader Deng Tao, together with the staff of the Gongshan Management and Protection Branch of the Gaoligongshan National Nature Reserve, formed a 16-person scientific expedition team to examine the main peak of Gaoligong Mountain’s Gawagapu Ice Lake and the plant species along the route.
The species distribution, community composition, etc.

Due to the collision of the Indian plate and the Eurasian plate and the vertical cutting of the Irrawaddy and Nu Rivers, the typical alpine and canyon landform of Gaoligong Mountain has been shaped, and its unique vertical natural landscape has been created, making Gaoligong Mountain a rare cross-border tropical collection in the world.
A complete vertical series of ecosystems in subtropical, temperate and frigid zones, with large areas of evergreen broad-leaved forests and highly enriched biodiversity
.
The scientific expedition team found that due to the unique steepness of the Gaoligong Mountain, the heterogeneity of the habitat and the limited habitat carrying capacity, many species, especially those in the alpine ecosystem, have relatively small populations and relatively low individual populations, and extremely small populations.
Species are common and vulnerable to global change

According to reports, this investigation has provided strong data support for exploring the response of Gaoligong Mountain's plant diversity to global changes, deep understanding of the ecological safety barrier function of Gaoligong Mountain, and promoting the construction of Gaoligong Mountain National Park and field scientific observation and research station
