    com Recent news from the Russian Federal Consumer Rights Protection and Public Welfare Supervision Bureau: From September 1 to 10, 2021, the Bureau participated in the 52nd International Food Additives Codex Committee meeting in the form of a video conference

    It is reported that with the active participation of the Russian side, the meeting suspended the standard-setting work that allowed the use of the food additive sodium citrate in milk: the additive can change the performance of the product to conceal product defects and mislead consumers

    During the committee meeting, the Russian side expressed concern that JECFA will transfer the risk assessment of the preservatives nisin (INS 234) and dimethyl dicarbonate (INS 235) from 2020 to 2023
    .
    Russian experts said that the use of the above additives in the food industry may lead to enhanced microbial resistance and pathogenicity, so a new risk assessment is required

    In addition, the Russian side also put forward a proposal: to revise the second-generation caramel-sulfite caramel coloring maximum allowable usage requirements in certain food categories
