Recently, the research team of Professor Yang Bin and Zheng Heping of Dermatology Hospital published an original research paper entitled "A suite of PCR-LwCas13a assays for detection and genotyping of Treponema pallidum in clinical samples" in Nature Communications.

Syphilis is a chronic, systemically transmitted disease caused by Treponema pallidum subsp.

The study developed a detection method for treponemal syphilis bound to PCR and CRISPR-LwCas13a, which is an order of magnitude higher sensitivity than traditional Realtime PCR, reaching the level of single-molecule detection, clinical detection sensitivity and specificity of 93.
