Recently, Prof.
Nuclear isomerism refers to the excited state of the nucleus with the same number of protons and neutrons.
This work was carried out using a 100 terawatt femtosecond laser facility in the Laser Plasma Laboratory of Shanghai Jiaotong University.
Figure 1.
After the cluster is ionized by the relativistic laser, the ionized electrons oscillate rapidly along the polarization direction in the laser electric field.
Figure 2.
The yields and excitation efficiencies of various possible excitation paths were calculated numerically and using the Coulomb excitation theory, and the source of the experimentally measured 2nd excited state was determined.
Figure 3.
The research results were published in Physical Review Letters 128, 052501(2022) on January 31, 2022 under the title " Femtosecond Pumping of Nuclear Isometric States by the Coulomb Collision of Ions with Quivering Electrons
