French TV 2 recently aired the documentary "Pesticides and Children in Dangerous Situations" produced by Cash Investigation, a gold medal investigation program
.
According to survey data, France is the largest consumer of pesticides in Europe, with an average annual sales of 65,000 tons of pesticides from 2008 to 2013
.
Cash Investigation also produced a "National Sales Map of Hazardous Pesticides and Potential Hazardous Pesticides Since 2008", marking each province in 5 colors (yellow, orange, orange, brick red, and black) according to the sales volume of pesticides.
Among them, Gironde, Loire-Atlantique and Marne, which are marked in black, are the provinces with the highest sales of pesticides in France, reaching 3000-3500 tons
.
Judging from the corresponding wine regions of these 3 provinces, the Loire-Atlantique includes some of the Loire Valley, the Marne includes some of the champagne regions, and the Gironde covers the entire Bordeaux region! The survey data of the program showed that as many as 44 pesticides are sold in Gironde, of which 24 are prohibited to use pesticides and dangerous pesticides
.
The documentary is on the map of Gironde and lists 132 schools close to the vineyards as "sensitive points"
