Bio-Techne today announced the introduction of the MitoBrilliant™ probe
.
These new probes enable fluorescent labeling and tracking of mitochondria
in living and fixed cells.
Fluorescent probes enable high-precision, sensitive, specific, and long-lasting labeling of mitochondria and are critical
for a range of demanding scientific and biomedical applications such as high-content screening, flow cytometry, and super-resolution microscopy.
To enhance the capabilities of modern imaging platforms used to conduct these studies, two types of MitoBrilliant™ probes
have been developed for specific applications.
The MitoBrilliant™ probe enables long-term dynamic monitoring
of mitochondrial membrane potential in living cells.
The MitoBrilliant™646 can be fixed probe, providing superior performance and resolution for post-fixation
.
In addition, MitoBrilliant™646 can be used to stain pre-fixed cells and tissues, successfully meeting the need for a "universal" mitochondrial probe that can be directly adapted to standard protocols
for high-content screening and immunofluorescence.
The probe was developed using Janelia Fluor™ fluorescent dye technology and licensed to Bio-Techne by the Janelia Research Campus of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute
.
They impart key properties of the widely used Janelia Fluor dye, such as brightness, photostability, suitability for super-resolution microscopy, to our next-generation MitoBrilliant™ probe
.
"We are committed to developing innovative tools to facilitate and accelerate scientific discovery
.
The next generation of MitoBrilliant™ dyes represents exactly that, and we're excited to bring these differentiated new probes to the life sciences world
.
" Will Geist, president of Bio-Techne's Protein Science Division, said
.
Developed by Tocris Bioscience, these dyes demonstrate our excellence in synthetic chemistry and our unique capabilities
in fluorophore design.
