In December 2022, the Standardization Administration of the People's Republic of China issued the third batch of recommended national standard plans for 2022, and the national standard plan "Data Management and Release Specifications for Microbial Resource Institutions" led by the team of Ma Juncai of the Institute of Microbiology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences "Officially approved the project
.
The national standard plan "Data Management and Release Specification of Microbial Resources Institutions" is under the National Science and Technology Platform Standardization Technical Committee (TC486), the competent department is the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the main drafts are the Institute of Microbiology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the National Science and Technology Infrastructure Platform Center, the Chinese Society of Bioengineering, etc
.
This standard is equivalent to the ISO international standard: ISO 21710:2020 - Data Management and Publication Specification
for Microbial Resource Institutions.
The standard will provide a set of data fields for data publication, aiming to facilitate data exchange between the Microbial Resource Center (MRC) online catalogue through the application of unique identifiers and uniform data forms, helping to facilitate subsequent benefit-sharing through the sharing
of microbial resources.
This standard will also specify requirements for data management and internal data quality control to improve the overall accuracy and reliability
of data and information recorded by MRC in documented form.
The standard will specify requirements for MRC data management and publication, including quality control workflows that enable consistently formatted data formats and improve overall data quality, which will have an impact
on procedures for access, acquisition, authentication, preservation, storage, distribution, and disposal.
The standard will also provide recommendations for MRCs to facilitate data sharing and data integration
related to microbial resources.
This standard applies to MRCs, regulatory bodies, notified body organizations, and schemes using peer evaluation to confirm or recognize the capabilities of
data management in microbiology resource center data publication and sharing.
