"The Lancet" report: China's maternal and child health core indicators continue to improve |
On May 25, "The Lancet" published online "The Lancet China’s Specially Invited Major Report on Female Reproduction, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health".
The report shows that compared with before 1949, the maternal mortality rate has dropped from 1500/100,000 to 16.
The report summarizes the reasons for the improvement of the indicators: one is the strong political will to protect the health rights of women and children; the second is the establishment of a complete hierarchical and hierarchical maternal and child health service system; the third is the establishment of a number of national maternal and child health information systems; Continue to deepen the reform of the medical and health system; fifth, the government has launched the national basic public health service projects and several major public health service projects for women and children; sixth, the Chinese government’s achievements in poverty alleviation.
The report also analyzed the current gaps and challenges facing China's maternal and child health, and published several national survey or monitoring data for the first time.
In addition, in response to the needs of women and children for high-quality health care services and a number of emerging issues and challenges, the report formulated a strategic framework for maternal and child health for the "Healthy China 2030", and pointed out that China is committed to the realization of the United Nations in the next 10 years.
The reporter learned that this report is co-chaired by Academician Qiao Jie of Peking University Third Hospital, Director Song Li of the Department of Women and Children of the National Health Commission, and Professor Zhu Jun of the National Office of Maternal and Child Health Monitoring of Sichuan University.
