The signing and groundbreaking ceremony of the second phase of the Huangpu Campus of Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Prevention and Treatment Center was held
in Guangzhou on the 11th.
Xu Ruihua, director and dean of the Cancer Prevention and Treatment Center of Sun Yat-sen University, said in an interview that the second phase of the project will use the development idea of "integration of medical research and production" and the support of the National Key Laboratory of Oncology, the National Clinical Research Center for Oncology Medicine, and the National Clinical Clinical Research Center for New Drugs as technical forces to create a biomedical innovation and achievement transformation platform and promote the development of
biomedicine in the Greater Bay Area 。 According to reports, the Cancer Prevention and Treatment Center of Sun Yat-sen University is an oncology base integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research and prevention, shouldering the important task of national tumor prevention and treatment, playing a leading role in the prevention and treatment of tumors in the country, especially in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and ranking the leading level
in the country in terms of discipline status and comprehensive strength.
The center now has two campuses, Yuexiu and Huangpu, of which the first phase of the Huangpu campus project was opened
in March 2021.
As of the second quarter of 2022, the total number of outpatient visits and 60,000 discharges of the first phase of the Huangpu Campus project reached 280,000
.
According to the plan, the second phase of the Huangpu Campus will further improve the service scale and diagnosis and treatment capacity, complete the specialty setting, strengthen scientific research and clinical transformation, and become an important carrier
of the National Cancer Regional Medical Center.
The overall scale of the Huangpu campus will be expanded by 130,000 square meters, and the medical service volume will increase to 1,200 beds
.
The Huangpu District Party Committee and District Government will invest 500 million yuan to support the construction of the project, and Zhongyan will be responsible for capital construction, equipment allocation and talent training, medical and epidemic prevention tasks, scientific research and transformation, etc
