From SeafoodNews on November 10, the Falkland Islands squid (Loligo squid) caught nearly 100,000 tons in two fishing seasons, the first season caught 56,417 tons, the second season was 43,216 tons, a total of 16 fishing boats, each season fishing time of 64 days
.

Dr Andrea Clausen, Director of Natural Resources at the Falkland Islands Government, said the fishing season had been closed to avoid harm to the southern squid bloom, but production from the first Squid (Loligo squid) season was 56,417 tonnes, the highest
since 2021.

The second season saw a daily catch of 44 tonnes per day, which was also the highest in the second season

However, Loligo squid fishing operations in the Falkland Islands also have to face increased fuel and transport costs
