The EK1914 EtherCAT coupler combines
the functionality of the EK1100 EtherCAT coupler with standard and safe digital I/O.
This results in a compact design that is ideal for applications
with small amounts of I/O.
Like the EK1100, the EK1914 can be extended to all EL/ES terminals
.
The EK1914 has four digital inputs and four digital outputs, as well as two fail-safe inputs and two fail-safe outputs
.
The safe input and output signals are exchanged
via FSoE with components with TwinSAFE logic.
The EK1914 has safety parameters that allow functions to be specially adapted to the respective safety requirements (e.
g.
input 1-channel evaluation vs.
2-channel evaluation, testing of individual channels).
In addition, standard output
can be activated for the EK1914.
Thus, the corresponding standard output can be performed in parallel with the safety output of the EK1914 and internally with the safe output
.
The safety output signal controlled by the TwinSAFE Logic thus emits a safe release for the standard signal, which can then be triggered by a non-safety-oriented control system, independent of the safety controller and the FSoE cycle
.
This allows for faster output switching times, provided that the safety controller issues the necessary release
for the output.
The safety parameters are not stored directly on the component, but are transmitted to the input terminal
via the component with the TwinSAFE Logic function when the security application is started.
This simplifies the service procedure, as the components
can simply be replaced in this case.
When the security application is restarted, the safety-related parameters are transferred to the new component
