39th Meeting of the Codex Alimentarius Committee on Nutrition and Special Diets (39CCNFSDU) was held in Berlin, Germany, from 4 to 8 December 2017. More than 300 representatives from 66 member States, one member organization and 39 international organizations participated in the meeting. The Chinese delegation was composed of personnel from the National Health and Family Planning Commission, the State Administration of Food and Drug Administration, the State Administration of Quality Supervision and Inspection, the China Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the Food Assessment Center, the Hong Kong Food and Environmental Protection Agency, relevant trade associations and other departments. Zhang Bing, deputy director of the China Nutrition Society's Regulatory Standards Committee, and Han Junhua attended the meeting. Han Junhua Researcher is the head and spokesman of the Chinese delegation.

This meeting covered a number of topics, including revisions to the standards for larger infant formula (CODEX STAN 156-1987), definitions of bio-enhanced, NRV-NCD values for long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids DHA/EPA, the development of ready-to-eat food standards for severe malnutrition, NRV-R values for larger infants and young children, "no" trans fatty acid claims, and profile work.
the Chinese delegation had made serious preparations before the meeting and had participated in a number of electronic working groups. A symposium was held before the meeting and a draft of the participants was submitted to the Food Division of the Health and Family Planning Commission, and the head of delegation and spokesman were elected. During the meeting, the Chinese delegation made many positive statements, combined with China's current standards and the latest research data, on the larger infant and young children formula food standards protein content, bio-enhanced definition of the views, packaging positive marking (FOP) and profile relationship between China's views, and won the support of most of the participating countries. At the same time, participants from various countries were briefed on the release of the National Nutrition Plan (2017-2030) by the Chinese Government and actively communicated with relevant officials such as the World Health Organization and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
