    Guo Yishi, deputy chief physician of the Department of Ophthalmology, Hui'an County Hospital, Fujian Province, introduced that glaucoma in the elderly is generally primary angle-closure glaucoma, which is caused by the sudden or progressive closure of the anterior chamber angle, the obstructing of the angle by the peripheral iris, and the obstruction of the outflow of aqueous humor.


    Intrinsic: anatomical structure


    External factors: Psychosocial factors such as changes in the working environment, family conflicts, emotional stimulation (anger, sadness, depression, excessive excitement), etc.


    Symptoms of acute glaucoma in the elderly

    Pain: distending pain in the eyeball, distending pain in the root of the nose and orbit, and headache.


    Red: The eyeball is bloodshot, dark red in color, and unclear in outline


    Blurred: blurred vision, sometimes looking at lights, especially incandescent lamps, you can see a rainbow of seven colors


    Shut: Photophobia, dare not open eyes in the sun, always blink or even close eyes, keep crying


    Guo Yishi said that if the above situation occurs, that is, a sharp increase in intraocular pressure, you should seek medical attention in time to avoid irreversible damage to the eyes caused by long-term high intraocular pressure


    Glaucoma diet and dietary precautions

    The purpose of dietary treatment of glaucoma is to accelerate the discharge of aqueous humor from the eye and reduce intraocular pressure


    In the diet, attention should be given to adzuki bean, golden needle, barley, loofah, millet, corn, buckwheat, barley, oat, mushroom, kelp, broad bean, banana, radish, pear, citrus, watermelon and green leafy vegetables, and vegetable oil should be used for cooking.


    In addition to recuperating in life, patients should also pay attention to adjusting their diet


      Generally, the "three taboos" should be fulfilled, that is, avoid smoking, avoid alcohol, and avoid strong tea
