November 2015, a delegation from the Chinese Nutrition Society went to Chicago for talks with the leadership of the American Dietitians Association, formerly known as Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The meeting mainly discussed the organizational structure of the two sides, the dietary guidelines for Chinese and American residents, and the possibility of exchanges and cooperation between the Chinese and American dietitian systems. The meeting was attended by Yang Yuxin, President of the Chinese Nutrition Society, Yu Fengying, Deputy Secretary-General and Vice Chairman of the Beijing Dietitians Association, Chang Cuiqing, Assistant Chairman Du Songming and Liu Lan, Secretary General of the Beijing Dietitians Association; Evelyn Crayton, the next president, Lucille Besser, CEO Patricia Babjak, and Dr. Katie Brown, director of the foundation, Dr. Susan Finn, chief researcher Dr. Alison Steiber and Dr. Dr. Mary Gregoire and more than 20 others.meeting was first welcomed by Cryton, President of the American Dietitians Association, and then by Yan Fengying, Vice President of the Chinese Nutrition Society, and Cryton, President of the American Dietitians Association, respectively, introduced the background and main work of the Chinese Dietitians Association and the American Dietitians Association. Next, Yang Yuxin, president of the Chinese Nutrition Society, and representatives of the American Dietitians Association exchanged views on the revision process, key principles, and nutritional challenges of the new dietary guidelines in China and the United States, and discussed in-depth ingestion recommendations for cholesterol, fat, added sugar, and salt. The American Dietitians Association showcased the structure, content, and resources of its main research projects, as well as the Future of Food Initiative, to enlighten the Chinese Nutrition Society's existing projects and future work. The Chinese Nutrition Society has demonstrated the current situation of Chinese dietitians and the work of registered dietitians in China, which will be piloted in Shanghai, and has been strongly affirmed and supported by the American Dietitians Association.
