The amount of dispersant is closely related to the following factors
Dosage of wetting and dispersing agent with different relative molecular mass
The amount of high molecular weight dispersant is much higher, especially for small particle size organic pigments.
Because the surface area of organic pigments is much larger than that of inorganic pigments, such a high amount is necessary.
There is no need to worry about any problems with such an amount, because the polymer dispersant has similar properties to the resin and has no adverse effect on the durability of the paint film.
Florida outdoor tests, simulated weathering tests and more than ten years of practical use have proved this.
For inorganic pigments, the recommended dosage is equivalent to the dosage level of low molecular weight dispersant.
The typical dosage for inorganic pigments is 1% to 10%; for organic pigments, it is 10% to 30% (based on the weight of the active ingredient of the dispersant to the weight of the pigment).
For very fine-grained pigments (such as certain carbon blacks), a dosage of 60% to 80% is necessary.
