In order to adapt to the reform of the salt industry system and ensure the uniform and correct application of national laws, in accordance with the provisions of the Salt Franchise Measures (State Council Order No. 696), and in the light of the actual work of the procuratorate, the Supreme People's Procuratorate has decided to repeal the Interpretation of the Supreme People's Procuratorate on certain questions concerning the specific application of the law in handling criminal cases of illegal operation of salt (High Inspection and Interpretation (2002) No. 6).
After the repeal of this interpretation, the People's Procuratorate may, in accordance with the Interpretation of the Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate on the Specific Application of Law in Criminal Cases of Production and Sale of Counterfeit goods, endanger the safety of salt by using non-iodized salt or non-salt such as industrial salt as salt." The provisions of the Interpretation of the Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate on Certain Questions of the Law Applying to Criminal Cases of Food Safety (Legal Interpretation (2013) No. 12) shall, in different circumstances, be investigated for criminal responsibility for the crime of producing or selling fake and inferior products, or for the crime of producing or selling food that does not meet safety standards, or for the crime of producing or selling toxic or harmful food.
