    There are three groups of neurovascular complexes within the posterior fossa:

    The upper group is related to the superior cerebellar artery (SCA)

    The middle group is related to the anterior inferior cerebellar artery (anteroinferior cerebellar artery, AICA).

    The lower group is related to the posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA)

    Other posterior fossa structures closely related to the three cerebellar arteries SCA, AICA, and PICA are the brainstem (midbrain, pons, and medulla), cerebellar peduncle (superior cerebellar, middle, and inferior peduncles), brainstem, and intercerebellar fissures (cerebellomesencephalic, cerebellopontine, and cerebellomedullary fissures), cerebellar surfaces (tentorial, petrosal, and suboccipital)

    Each neurovascular structure includes the brainstem, the cerebellar surface, the cerebellar peduncles, and the fissure between the brainstem and cerebellum

    The superior complex includes the oculomotor, trochlear and trigeminal nerves, which are closely related to SCA;

    The middle complex includes abducens nerve, facial nerve and vestibulocochlear nerve, and is closely related to AICA;

    The inferior complex includes the glossopharyngeal nerve, vagus nerve, accessory nerve and hypoglossal nerve, and is closely related to PICA
