study, carried out by researchers at the University of Eastern Finland in collaboration with colleagues in the UK, Austria and other countries, found that saunas reduce the risk of stroke.
researchers spent 15 years tracking 1,628 people between the ages of 53 and 74 living in eastern Finland. They were divided into three groups, the first group steamed sauna once a week, the second group steamed sauna 2 to 3 times a week, and the third group steamed sauna 4 to 7 times a week.
results show that the more frequent the sauna, the lower the risk of stroke. People who steamed saunas four to seven times a week had a 61 percent lower risk of stroke than those who steamed saunas only once a week.
even excluding risk factors associated with stroke, such as age, sex, illness, lifestyle, etc., the link between sauna and reduced stroke risk remains.
researchers believe that saunas can help prevent stroke by lowering blood pressure, stimulating the immune system, and improving heart and circulatory function.
