The broad nettle family ( Urticeaesensu lato ) includes more than 220 species in 12 genera and is a medium-sized family of the Urticacea.
Recently, the team of Li Dezhu from the Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, relying on the Southwest China Wild Organism Germplasm Resource Bank, obtained plastid genomes of all known genera in the Urtica species through shallow genome sequencing, and discussed their size and structural variati.
On this basis , the chloroplast genome and ribosomal large subunit ( nrDNA ) sequences were assembled based on the shallow genome sequencing data of 90 individuals from 12 genera and 58 species in this family , and the internal phylogeny of the nettle family was reconstructed accordingly relationshi.
The research results were published online in the international botanical journal Frontiers in Plant Science under the title Deep insights into the plastome evolution and phylogenetic relationships of the tribe Urticeae (family Urticaceae .
