Although antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL) are associated with thrombosis events, especially in young patients, the role of aPL in relapsed ischemic stroke (RIS) is not known.
recently published a research paper in the leading journal in the field of cardiovascular disease, a systematic evaluation and meta-analysis designed to assess the association between aPL and RIS.
Based on the Preferred Reporting Program (PRISMA) for Systematic Evaluation and Meta-Analysis, the researchers computer-aided searched and systematically evaluated documents published in English or Korean since 1990 in the PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane libraries.
Review Manager 5.3 software for statistical analysis.
2,272 searched literature, the researchers included eight studies (2,510 subjects; 844 aPL-positive subjects).
meta-analysis found that for RIS, the relative risk of aPL was 1.41 (95% CI was 0.91-2.17; I2 was 54%).
in the subgroup analysis, age, age, ethnicity, and aPL type did not increase the risk of RIS occurrence.
, aPL is not an independent predictor of adult RIS.
, however, taking into account non-standardized disease standards, further well-designed prospective trials should be considered to confirm these results.
