Original title: Strawberries are good for patients with uterine fibroids
Researchers at the University of Technology in Marche, Italy, have found that strawberries, a fruit that induces apoptosis of uterine fibroids in the body, are expected to develop into a treatment or preventive agent for uterine fibroids.
previous studies have shown that anthroxine in strawberries can reduce the risk of cancer, including breast, colon and prostate cancers. So the researchers wanted to see if strawberries were good for patients with uterine fibroids. Uterine fibroids are a common benign tumor formed by the growth of smooth uterine muscle tissue, which occurs in women of childbearing age. According to statistics, about 20% of women over the age of 30 suffer from uterine fibroids.
team collected five different strawberry varieties: Alba, Clery, Portella, Tezra and Eromina. They determined the most effective varieties by measuring the phenolic and anthocyanin content of each variety and their antioxidant ability, as well as the apoptosis rate and reactive oxygen production of uterine fibroids.
analysis showed that for smooth fibroid cells, Lymena's anthocyanins were most effective at inducing apoptosis and reducing in-cell oxygen levels, followed by Eromina and Alba extracts. Smooth fibroid cells showed a significant decrease in glycolysis, especially after treatment with Lymena anthocyanins. The study, published in the Journal of Cell Physiology, confirms the benefits of strawberries, the active ingredient in fruit, to tumors.
