Large amounts of carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) are released from soil each year, mainly from litter and the decomposition of soil carbon (C) .
Zhang Jingfan, a doctoral student at the Ecology Center of the South China Botanical Garden, Chinese Academy of Sciences, under the guidance of researcher Wang Faming, used the field test platform of nitrogen and phosphorus addition in tropical secondary forests to conduct a two-year field experiment .
The study showed that the addition of nitrogen only accelerated the release of litter carbon, and the release of litter carbon in the 0~5cm and 5~10cm soil layers increased by 42% and 6% , respectively
Relevant research results have been published online in Science of The Total Environment ("Total Environmental Science"), article link: https://authors.
