On December 2, 2022, the South African Ministry of Agriculture, Agrarian Reform and Rural Development published Announcement No.
2826 through the Official Gazette No.
47634 to establish the Regulations on Canned and Pickled Vegetable Food
for Sale in the South African Market 。 The main contents of the regulations include: the scope of applicable products (imported or domestic vegetable products that have been heat-sterilized or pickled), product classification, terms and definitions, general requirements for canned and pickled vegetable products (such as raw materials meeting inspection and quarantine hygiene requirements, safe and clean processing, raw and auxiliary materials adding in compliance with regulatory requirements, etc.
), sensory quality requirements and grading standards for 26 types of canned and pickled vegetable products, hygiene management regulations for the whole process of production and processing, microbial hygiene standards for final products (such as salmonella, E.
coli, Clostridium botulinum and Staphylococcus aureus shall not be detected), product packaging and labeling regulations (the label should indicate the product name, type, grade, country of origin, manufacturer and production date and other information), sampling and inspection
