    In March 2019, the global burden of Disease Research Report 2016 published by the Lancet Neurology Magazine showed that [1], in 2016, there were 13.7 million new stroke patients in the world, and China accounted for 40% (5.51 million); there were 5.5 million deaths due to stroke in the world, of which China accounted for 1 / 3 (1.79 million) China stroke prevention and control report 2018 also shows that at present, China's stroke prevention and control has achieved initial results; from 1994 to 2013, the annual reduction rate of standardized mortality rate of Chinese male stroke population was 2.7%, and that of female stroke population was 4.1% Previously, there was evidence that shorter or longer sleep time was associated with stroke risk in individuals However, the research results showed that the relationship was J-shaped, U-shaped or invalid At present, there is still a great controversy about the relationship between sleep time and stroke risk in the scientific community, and very few studies investigated the relationship between sleep duration and stroke subtype Photo source: Lue Zhou, et al Neurology, December 112019, DOI: 10.1212/wnl.0000000000008739 recently, a research report published in the international journal Neurology entitled "sleep duration, middle app ing, and sleep quality and incident stroke the Dongfeng Tongji court" [2] Scientists from Huazhong University of science and technology of China and other institutions aimed to clarify the impact of sleep time, nap and sleep quality on the risk of stroke and stroke subtype in the population At the same time, the researchers also studied the relationship between the change of sleep time and the risk of stroke in the population In this study, the researchers studied 31750 Chinese with an average age of 62 years At the beginning of the study, the participants had no history of stroke or other major health problems Then the researchers followed up the participants for six years, during which 1557 people suffered from stroke The results showed that they napped for a long time or slept for more than 9 hours at night The risk of a stroke increases in The researchers said people who took regular naps longer than 90 minutes were 25 percent more likely to have a stroke than those who took regular naps of 1-30 minutes, while people who did not take naps or took naps of 31 minutes to 1 hour were less likely to have a stroke Of course, researchers need to do more research to clarify how long nap and long sleep at night can increase the risk of stroke in the population, but previous studies have believed that the cholesterol level in the body of individuals who have long nap or long sleep at night will have adverse changes, and the waist circumference of the body will also increase, which are risk factors for stroke In addition, long naps and long nights also suggest an inactive lifestyle, which is directly related to the increased risk of stroke In China, people's napping habits are very common; the researchers asked participants to answer questions related to their sleep and napping habits, among which 8% of the population would take more than 90 minutes of nap every day, and 24% of the population would sleep at least 9 hours every night Participants who slept more than 9 hours a night (including 9 hours) had an increased risk of stroke (hazard ratio [HR] of 1.23, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.07-1.41) compared with participants who slept 7-8 hours a night; participants who slept less than 6 hours a night had no effect on their risk of stroke, the researchers said The risk ratio of total stroke risk was 1.25 and 95% confidence interval was 1.03-1.53 when the nap time was more than 90 minutes compared with 1-30 minutes This was similar to the results of the study on ischemic stroke, which showed that participants with poor sleep quality had a 29%, 28% and 56% increased risk of total stroke, ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke compared with participants with good sleep quality; in addition, the researchers also observed that they slept more than 9 hours per night and took more than 90 minutes of siesta (risk ratio 1.85; 95% CI 1.28-2.66), 9 hours or more sleep per night and poor sleep quality (hazard ratio 1.82; 95% CI 1.33-2.48) may have significant combined effects on the overall risk of stroke; in addition, compared with participants who sleep 7-9 hours per night, continuous sleep of at least 9 hours or switching the 7-9 hours sleep mode to at least 9 hours sleep per night may increase the overall risk of stroke The results show that 1% of the people who take a long nap will suffer from stroke in the later period, compared with 0.7% of the people who take a moderate nap The researchers point out that the results of this study emphasize the importance of proper nap, sleep time and maintaining good sleep quality (including effective prevention of stroke, etc.), especially for the middle-aged and old people This study did not elucidate the causal association between long naps, sleep time, and stroke risk, but only suggested one association Finally, the researchers concluded that long sleep (at night), long lunch break and low sleep quality are independent and can jointly increase the risk of stroke Long sleep or switching from average sleep time to long sleep can also increase the risk of stroke (BIOON Com) reference materials: [1] GBD 2016 stroke collaborators Global, regional, and national burn of stroke, 1990-2016: a systematic analysis for the global burn of disease study 2016 Lancet neuron 2019 may;
