Overseas media Express News Service reported that due to rising production costs, the price of vannamei shrimp has fallen, and farmers in some production areas in India are facing loss.

There are about 150,000 acres of white shrimp farms in the coastal areas of Repalle and Chirala in the Bapatra region of India, and the farmed white shrimp are of high quality and all exported to overseas marke.
However, recent erratic weather in the region and soaring prices of farming medicines and feeds have thrown aquaculture farmers into new dilemm.

Local white prawn prices fell by Rs 90 to Rs 100 per kg last month, while the cost of medicines and labour is still risi.
Many farms have frequent power outages during a critical period for white shrimp farming, where ponds need to be oxygenated at night, so farmers have to use generators, but diesel is so expensive that the cost of generating electricity is too hi.

K Rama Rao, an administrator of a 10-acre farm, said in an interview that in the past, a single crop could make a profit of 500,000 to 1 million rubles, but because of rising feed and medicine prices, plus the daily use of diesel generators, the cost reached its pe.

"If shrimp prices continue to fall, it will be difficult for us to recoup our investment," he lament.
