Today reported on September 26 that farmers in Serbia have begun harvesting corn, but the current best yields are about four tons per hectare, some only a few hundred kilograms, which is 90%
    lower than the average.

Dragan Kleut, president of the Banat Farmers' Credit Union, said the harvest was so bad that it had been predicted to be 80 percent lower, but what is now seen in the fields is 90 percent lower than average, with yields of just 600 kilograms
    per hectare in some areas.

Dra?ko Ivokovich, president of the Stig and Malava Farmers' Association in Malo Crni?e City, said that large-scale harvests of maize have not yet begun in the region, but yields in fields where all agricultural technical measures, such as weeding, have been taken at just 4 tonnes per hectare, a 30-40 percent
    decrease from last year.

Jovica Jak?, president of the Independent Association of Serbian Farmers, who sowed 130 hectares of maize, said yields differed from region to region but had "catastrophic" yields in common, with some fields employing all agricultural technology measures but yielding only 1.
    6 to 1.
    7 tonnes
    per hectare.

They argue that the high temperatures and droughts this summer are not conducive to corn growth, and now that frequent rain has increased the humidity of corn, which requires additional drying costs, the situation is even worse
